“The Figurehead siempre fue una pista que realmente se destacó en un álbum que ya es impresionante por derecho propio.
La primera vez que la escuché, cuando comenzaron las voces, escuché mal las palabras como: ‘Schopenhauer, déjame en paz, yo cada noche duermo menos.’
Más tarde me enteré de que Robert Smith en realidad cantaba, “Agudo y abierto, déjame en paz”, pero lo que escuché inicialmente se quedó conmigo.
En ese momento, estaba leyendo y releyendo ‘El mundo como voluntad y representación’ de Schopenhauer y estaba obsesionándome con la cuarta parte, que trata sobre la negación de la voluntad de vivir.
Estaba en un estado de ánimo enfermizo en ese momento y estuve luchando contra el insomnio durante mucho tiempo.
Por eso, nuestro homenaje a esta obra maestra de gloom and abatimiento presenta letras ligeramente alteradas”.
